FrontRange (formerly Centennial) License Manager radically simplifies the task of managing software entitlements assets and licences, with a single solution for the discovering of software on the network, recording and validating license entitlements, and creating a dynamic best-fit reconciliation.
Key Features:
License Manager makes it easy to address the key areas of software management:
- Import and filter discovered software. Unlike other solutions, License Manager automatically imports discovered software data without the need for additional data filtering and cleansing tools. With an integrated version of Centennial Discovery, License Manager imports the software titles that need to be managed and automatically ensures that new discovery data is updated on a regular, scheduled basis.
- “Proof of Entitlement” capture. Authorized data entry users can quickly add new software purchases to License Manager through a structured web interface. All important information, such as vendor, purchase order, licence quantity, cost, and both vendor and reseller SKUs are captured. Proof of Entitlement documents can be attached to each record for future reference and audit purposes.
- Match entitlement with known vendor software. A key differentiator for License Manager is its ability to automatically match entries on entitlement records with known software titles. In most cases this will remove the need for the user to manually collate entitlement records with vendor software catalogs.
- Report on licence compliance status. Once Proof of Entitlement documents have been entered and the License Manager database is populated with the latest discovered data, authorized users can quickly reconcile entitlement against usage. License Manager will highlight over-licensing and under-licensing, as well as automatically calculating upgrade and downgrade rights.
License Manager Features for Microsoft Licensing:
- Automatic import of licensing information from Microsoft CLP reports. One of the most time consuming tasks for any compliance manager is to enter existing licence and purchase information. Licence Manager now features the ability to import vendor licence statements and the first format supported is the standard Microsoft CLP vendor compliance report.
- Support for Microsoft licensing models.True licence optimisation means being able to compare and utilize many different licence models to understand and optimise cost savings. To help organisations both track their licence usage and make better decisions about future needs, Licence Manager now provides support for Microsoft CALs, whether in per user, per device or per processor models. Licence Manager allows the comparison of licensed CALs against predicted usage to help optimise licensing. In addition, FrontRange Centennial Discovery has been enhanced to provide the number of processors. Licence Manager can now allow servers and applications to be licensed per processor with the ability to set the number of processors licensed.
